The chart tracks the performance of the top 10 cryptocurrencies in September, excluding the stable Tether, where only two digital currencies managed to finish higher.

Ripple (XRP) rose the most last month after increasing 73.9 percent, according to Poloniex price, noting that it has lost more than 90 percent of its value this year.

The rally started on September 19 after the announcement of global expansion of RippleNet, an international payment and remittance service, pushing ripple price 30 percent up that day.

Another boost came after Ripple announcement of the launch of xRapid system in October.

Stellar soared 15.94 percent, while the Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization, slipped 5.76 percent over the period of September.

The sharpest losses were recorded by MIOTA (IOTA), Ethereum (ETH), and EOS, as they tumbled 19.68 percent, 17.41 percent and 11.17 percent respectively.

Still, the rejection and delay of the Securities and Exchange Commission to proposals to list an exchange-traded fund tied to the cryptocurrency are putting pressure on crypto prices.

It is worthwhile to mention that the total market capitalization fell from $228 billion on August 31 to $222 billion on September 30.
